A Dream Come True

In 2020, City Hall became ground zero for the protests. We had reached an inflection point in our country as grief poured into the streets and turned pain into protests and protests in to policy. Advancing justice in 2020 looked like megaphones, marches and meetings.

But I knew that things would change. I told the leader of the protests that the next leg of the race would look like music, dancing and joy.

When I saw Jerusalema for the first time, I knew this was it. I learned it and showed my best friend the dance and told her that I wanted to teach this dance all over the city and that one day Wilmington would dance in the streets. Well, it happened! Here we are, dancing as a community for justice and joy!

Thank you, Wilmington, for making my dream come true! Thanks Bigg B of 97.3, Mr. Hollis Briggs, President of the MLK Committee, Cameron Arts Museum and Friends School of Wilmington and everyone who joined the dance!
